Proforma in Illinois has developed a unique partnership with one of their customers. That relationship has resulted in substantial savings for the customer. Proforma has a relationship with a company that supplies software to the corrugated box industry. Anytime they set up a company on their software, the new company will get referred to Proforma to get them started with their forms.

Because of this arrangement, Proforma also supplies W2's to those plants that do their own payroll. Back in January of 2000, one of the larger companies, a manufacturer, called in their order for W2's and said they have a new “ship to,” and it just happened to be in the Chicago area. This company is America’s largest independent box maker/packaging company, with 25 manufacturing plants across the country. Proforma got the name of the contact responsible for ordering the forms. He just happened to be the Director of IT.

In their meeting,Proforma found out that the corporate headquarters get billed for all the forms and then, at the end of the month, he would get a usage report from their vendor. This report outlined who was using what forms, and then they would get one large invoice for freight. He would have to go through the usage report and associate a cost to the product, and then guess the approximate freight cost for that product. This was necessary to then allocate the cost back to the particular plants. This process took him a couple of days to get through and was a big hassle.

After explaining the Company Store program, Proforma showed the IT Director how he could provide a report using the P3 Platform, which showed product usage broken down by plant. This report would also show the cost. With a little extra effort on his part, he would give exact freight cost with each shipment along with the total cost for every plant at the end of each month.

Immediately after showing him how Proforma could save him countless hours of work each month, the client placed an order—the first of many, since thanks to the continued hard work and creative problem solving efforts of Proforma.
